Healthy sauces and salad dressings

To be healthy, sauces and salad dressings should contain the following per serving:

  • 4g or less of sugar;
  • 5g or less of fat; and
  • 350mg or less sodium

Recommended choices

Sauces

  • Annie Chun’s: Hot and Spicy Shitake Mushroom Sauce
  • Bragg Liquid Aminos: find by soy sauce in the store
  • Consorzio: Tropical Grill, Roasted Garlic and Balsamic
  • Drew’s All Natural: Asian Grill Sauce, Caribbean Grill Sauce, Chipotle Grill Sauce, or “After Grill” Steak Sauce
  • Mr. Spice: Indian Curry Sauce or Tangy Bang Hot Sauce
  • Nasoya: Nayonaise (regular or lowfat)
  • Red Hook Barbeque Sauce: ESB Amber Ale with Smoked Chilies and Honey, Spicy Blonde Ale with Jalapeno and Mango, Blackhook Porter with Poblano Chilies and Molasses
  • Trader Joe’s: Beef Marinade, Bordeaux Sauce

Ketchup

  • Westbrae: Fruit-sweetened Catsup or Unsweetened Catsup

Salad dressings

  • Annie’s Naturals: Low-fat Raspberry Vinaigrette, No-fat Yogurt Dressing with Dill
  • Consorzio: Raspberry and Balsamic Vinegar Dressing, Mango Dressing
  • Drew’s All Natural: Tomato and Basil Dressing (use 1 Tbsp, not 2, as it contains 6g fat from canola and olive oil)
  • Just 2 Good: Ranch Dressing (Wishbone)
  • Marti’s: Garden Fresh Dressing and Marinade, Low-fat Ginger Dijon
  • Nalley: Fat-free Ranch Dressing
  • Paula’s No-fat Dressings: Caesar, Roasted Garlic, Garden Tomato, Toasted Onion
  • Paula’s No-oil Dressings: Lemon and Dill, Lime and Cilantro, Orange and Basil
  • Rising Sun Farm: Raspberry Balsamic Vinaigrette and Marinade, Pesto Dried Tomato, Italian Lovers, Roasted Garlic Galore
  • Seeds of Change: Mediterranean Tomato, Sweet Basil Vinaigrette
  • Spectrum: Fat-free Sweet Onion and Garlic, Fat-free Toasted Sesame, Creamy Dill, Low-fat Creamy Roasted Pepper, Low-fat Southwestern Caesar, Zesty Italian
  • The Silver Palate: Fat-free Really Raspberry Salad Splash, Fat-free Roasted Red Bell Pepper, Fat-free Roasted Garlic Balsamico
