Week 9 results

Chart of my results in the 20/20 Lifestyles Program

For the first time since starting the program, I gained weight instead of losing it. I gained 1.6 pounds this week, bringing my total weight loss down to 42 pounds. My official weight this week is 223 pounds, meaning I still have 33 pounds to lose over the next 23 weeks.

I can’t really attribute the weight gain to anything in particular, I’ve been working out at the same frequency and intensity, and I’ve been sticking to the diet rather strictly. I’m thinking it may be that I’ve hit a set point that my body has established for me over the years. I’ve been warned that this would happen, and frankly, I’m a little surprised that it hasn’t happened before this week.

Of course, that doesn’t make it less discouraging. Realistically, it’s the first major obstacle that I’ve encountered since starting the program, and I’m committed to breaking through it. I’ve still got a lot of time to do it; I just need to remain focused.
