Week 7 results
Posted Jun 29, 2006 at 07:13 PM

Weighing in this week was much better in terms of results: I’m now at 226.2, meaning I’ve lost 38.8 pounds since starting at 265, past the half-way point to my goal of 190, with 25 weeks to go. My confidence in succeeding in the program is back. I’m sure things will slow down going forward, but I think I can do it.

A few observations
There have been a few times now where I go to my locker after a workout, and the combination doesn’t work the first time. For a brief moment, I pause to wonder if this is real—or if I’m trying to open someone else’s locker—since I’m convinced that I don’t have one, since I hardly ever go to the gym. The mind’s a funny thing, and even after 7 hard weeks, I still have these brief moments where I can’t believe I’m really doing this.
On a related note, every once in a while, when I’m a bit preoccupied with work or the day or whatever, I find myself convinced that I’ve forgotten something; that I’m not carrying enough; that I should be carrying more. Certainly I had more than this when I came in, didn’t I? Then it hits me— I’m not carrying 40 pounds or so any more. That’s a great feeling, at least until I realize that I left my ATM card in the machine.
As June, 2006 comes to a close, I realize that for the first time in my adult life, I haven’t had a bite of fast food, bread or rice for the whole month. Surprisingly, I haven’t missed any of it too badly, and the cravings aren’t too bad.
I had to punch more holes in the belts over the weekend. The loose end of the belt now tucks nicely into 2 belt loops—the one left of center in the front (where it’s supposed to go), and the one all the way over on the left. New goal: when I can tuck my belt into 3 loops (the new one being the one left of center in the back) I’ll be getting a new belt, or getting creative with the scissors.
Oh, and I’m starting to notice some changes, especially in terms of muscle definition.
