Week 3 results

I finished week three of my 32-week 20/20 Lifestyles program on Wednesday. This week is proving to be a bigger challenge than I thought it would, for the weight loss has slowed a bit, and my personal trainer is on vacation all week. The time I have scheduled for this is pretty popular, so I’m on my own for the workouts all week. I did manage to make it to the gym 6 times this week, and have been able to follow the assigned workouts pretty well. We set a goal of doing 20 minutes on the stairs for this week, and although I was only able to do 15 minutes on Monday, I’ve been hitting 20 since then, which feels great. Given that it took everything I had to do 5 minutes of stairs when I started, this is great progress.
This week, certain dairy products have been added to my diet, essentially 1 serving of either non-fat milk, cottage cheese or Cascade Fresh yogurt per day.
Thanks again to Anthony Tran and Deanna Herbert for joining me at the gym for some of my work outs. Thanks too to Martina Hiemstra for bringing in some organic vegetables from her garden! I moved from one type of elliptical machine (that only focused on legs) to another (that focuses on arms and legs) this week, and I like the new machine much better. Of course, I still don’t like the stair machine, but as I’m making progress on it, it’s starting to grow on me. I’m sure that next week will be much harder, as it’s likely that we’ll be increasing duration, difficulty and weights once my trainer gets back on Monday. He’ll also be joining me more frequently in the next few weeks to make up for the absences from last week, so I’ve got that to look forward to.
I ended up purchasing Weight by Date Pro this week, and I’m now able to keep my meal and exercise log on my cell phone, which has helped a lot. I forgot my heart monitor twice this week, which makes the workouts harder as I have to guess at how I’ve done.
Results

At this point, I’ve lost 24.8 pounds, going from 265 on May 1st to 240.2 pounds at my weigh-in on Wednesday, which means I lost another 3.6 pounds this week. I fell a little short of my 25 pound goal, but I’m still moving in the right direction. My dietitian suggests that my weekly weight loss will likely average between 1-2% per week going forward (now that I’ve lost most of my “water weight”), so I’m still definitely on track to hitting my overall goal in December. Yay!
In the next week or so, I’m going to have to punch some holes in my belts or get new ones, as I’m on the last hole right now. It’s rewarding to see how worn in the holes on one end are from before I started the program, and how quickly I’ve moved to and beyond each of the holes further in.
Exercise music
I made a workout playlist on my iPod that I’ve been listening to at the gym, and listening to it going on 4 weeks is starting to get stale. If any of you have any recommendations for exercise music, please leave a comment with your ideas. One of my weekend projects is to publish my iTunes music library here on my blog, so keep a look out for that as well — once I’ve done it, I’ll add a music link to the top of my web pages.
Thanks for stopping by!
