Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen NX

Posted Aug 24, 2003 at 06:45 PM

Bought a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen NX today. More and more, I’m finding people I know have their entire music collections available in a digital format, and have these digital archives available on their computers, patched into their stereos, on the go walkman-style, and even jacked into their cars.

One of the things about doing what I do for a living, or more accurately how I do what I do, is that my home computers have a short life expectancy. It seems I’m always on the verge of reformatting to install an alpha or beta version of the latest and greatest version of Windows, SQL or Visual Studio, and on more than one occassion, I’ve lost personal files (read: Quicken) that I forgot or overlooked when backing up before reformatting.

I’ve never lost digital music or pictures, because I’ve really never had either. This reformat pattern of mine has led me to missing the boat completely on this whole digital lifestyle thing. Computers today are enabling really great scenarios here nowadays, especially in terms of music, photography and video. It’s pretty cool, and it’s something that I think I’m going to get really into in the months and years to come.

So with this purchase, it’s time that I rededicate my home computer for my life, not my job. Wish me luck.
