PowerMac G5 1.8 Ghz dual computer

Posted Nov 23, 2003 at 10:23 PM

Don’t let the title fool you. I’ve still got a Mac at home, I just took the Mac that I had back to the Apple Store because they just released a new dual-processor version of the same computer that I bought a little over 60 days ago for only $100 more, and at the same time discontinued my model. That’s not quite what I thought they meant by thinking different, so I drove on over to have a chat.

It took a bit of dialogue with the clerks there, but in the end, I was able to exchange it fair and square for the dual-processor version and the difference in price. I had to pay a restocking fee for my trade in, but I think it’s a small price to pay, considering what I got for it.

All in all, I’m very happy with the experience. I realize that technology marches on and that this kind of thing happens all of the time, but the particulars in this case (doubling the processing power for less than 5% more money in less than 2 months) were pretty extreme.
