30GB iPod

Exchanged my Zen Nomad Jukebox MP3 player in for an iPod today, and the folks at Best Buy were surprisingly good about the exchange. I’m just starting the process of ripping all of my CD’s into digital files, and have quite a few in Windows Media format currently.
I think that the Creative Zen Nomad is the best Windows Media player on the market today, but sadly, it really dims in comparison to the iPod. In addition to using it while out an about, I really want to get a good setup in my car, and I just can’t see driving while trying to use the Zen’s interface.
The iPod is certainly more expensive, but the form factor and interface are really more important to me than the file format. Of course, the iPod doesn’t play Windows Media files, so I’ve got a lot of reripping to do.
I want to get all of my music digital, and doing this is not an insignificant investment of time. There’s the time it takes to actually rip a disk, but then there’s a lot of time making sure that the album art and metadata are correct as well, and I’m really quite particular about things like spelling mistakes and incompleteness.
Time to download iTunes.
Update [8/2001] I sold the iPod to John Koropchak and upgraded to the 40GB iPod.
