home.microsoft.com Vesta release
Posted Dec 17, 1998 at 08:19 PM
I’ve gone through my second release of the site I’ve been working on here at Microsoft tonight.
Highlights
The MSN.com Vesta release focused on Internet Explorer 5 features as well as improving the code infrastructure to create a more efficient and reliable site. Many changes in this release are behind the scenes or not immediately visible but increase the stability, quality, or efficiency of the site.
The UI didn’t change significantly, but it was tweaked slightly to increase scanability and readability of the site. Accomplishing this included tightening up the overall UI, visually lining up components, and modifying some color schemes.
We also instroduced a personalization restore feature that allows users to recover lost cookies, based on user feedback.
This release also migrates Internet Explorer 5 beta users from http://home.microsoft.com to http://www.msn.com. Eventually, all users will migrate off of the previous site, and when Internet Explorer 5 ships, http://www.msn.com will be hardcoded as the default home page, replacing http://home.microsoft.com.
