Basic Bulgar

Recipe from Feeding the Whole Family by Cynthia Lair.
Bulgar is a par-boiled, dried and cracked while wheat. Bulgar can be used as a base grain for a variety of bean and vegetable dishes, including tabouli, a traditional Mideastern dish.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- a pinch of sea salt
- 1 cup bulgar
Preparation
Bring water and salt to a boil in a small pan. Add bulgar. Cover pan and remove from heat. Let stand for 10 minutes. Fluff grain with a fork before serving. Add a few drops of oil to the cooked bulgar to keep it loose.
Nutritional information
Makes six 1/2 cup servings, each having 80 calories, 3g protein, 0g fat, 18g carbohydrates, 4g fiber and 60mg sodium.
