Brown Basmati Rice

Recipe from Cooking with Grains by Coleen and Bob Simmons.

Ingredients

  • 2-1/4 cups water
  • 1 cup brown basmati rice
  • 1 tsp salt

Preparation

In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add rice and salt and cover pan tightly. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30-45 minutes. Check a rice grain after 30 minutes to see if it is tender and water has been absorbed.

Nutritional information

Makes 6 servings, each with 120 calories, 3g protein, 1g fat, 25g carbohydrates, 2g fiber and 390mg sodium.
