Basic Cooked Brown Rice

Recipe from Cooking with Grains by Coleen and Bob Simmons.
Ingredients
- 2-1/4 cups water
- 1 cup long or short-grain brown rice
- 1 tsp salt
Preparation
In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add rice and salt and cover pan tightly. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30-45 minutes. Check a rice grain after 30 minutes to see if it is tender and water has been absorbed.
Nutritional information
Makes six 1/2 cup servings, each having 110 calories, 2g protein, 1g fat, 24g carbohydrates, 1g fiber and 390mg sodium.
