Smart snack ideas

Here’s a list of nutritional snacks that I got from my dietitian today. There’s a lot more choices than I had when I started, and I thought I’d post it here so I have it accessible when I blank out in the grocery store.
- Apple, celery, whole-wheat toast, or whole-wheat tortilla with 1 Tbsp peanut butter or 1-2 servings of nuts (6-12 almonds, 10-20 peanuts, etc.)
- Low-fat cottage cheese with a peach, pear, plum or 1/2 cup of fresh berries
- Low-fat cottage cheese with Cascade Fresh yogurt
- Orange, apple or pear with mozarella string cheese
- Hummus with raw chopped vegetables or whole-wheat pita bread
- 1/2 tuna or other lean meat sandwich on whole grain bread
- Side salad with cottage cheese, tuna or grilled chicken
- 1 cup of low-sodium bean or lentil soup, or chili
- Mini pizza: whole-wheat English muffin, tomato sauce and low-fat mozarella cheese
- Peppered deli turkey or lean deli ham and grapes
- Cascade Fresh yogurt with high fiber cereal
- Cascade Fresh yogurt and blueberries
- Low-sodium turkey, tuna or salmon jerky
- Soy nuts (e.g. Mighty Mo Munchies, Genisoy, “This Can’t Be Soy”
- Quesadilla: whole-wheat tortilla and 1oz of low-fat shredded cheese
- 20/20 Muffin, 20/20 Bar or Balance Outdoor Bar
